Cognitive Health Assessment

Brain Health Program

Feeling mentally sharp at 50, 60, 70+ isn't luck. It's measurable—inflammation, nutrient status, metabolic health. We test what affects brain function and optimize what needs fixing.

Brain health assessment and cognitive testing

What Affects Your Brain Function

Your brain needs three things to work well: stable blood sugar, low inflammation, and the right nutrients. Most routine checkups miss two out of three.

We measure the markers that affect how your brain performs today—not in 20 years. Things like chronic inflammation, insulin resistance, nutrient gaps, and gut health issues that standard panels don't check.

The goal isn't to "prevent disease"—it's to optimize function. Think clearer, remember better, focus longer. That's what we work on.

What We Test

Inflammation Markers

Chronic inflammation affects cognitive performance:

  • • hs-CRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein)
  • • Homocysteine
  • • Inflammatory cytokines

Gut-Brain Connection

Your microbiome influences neurotransmitter production:

  • • Microbiome composition analysis
  • • Intestinal barrier function
  • • Bacterial metabolites affecting brain health

Essential Nutrients

Deficiencies that impact mental performance:

  • • B12 and folate (methylation, nerve function)
  • • Omega-3 fatty acids (cell membrane health)
  • • Vitamin D, magnesium, zinc

Metabolic Function

Blood sugar control affects brain performance:

  • • Fasting glucose and HbA1c
  • • Insulin levels
  • • Lipid panel

Oxidative Stress

Cellular stress markers:

  • • Antioxidant status
  • • Oxidative damage markers
  • • Glutathione levels

Hormone Balance

Hormones that affect cognitive function:

  • • Thyroid panel (TSH, T3, T4)
  • • Cortisol patterns
  • • Sex hormones when relevant

Gut-Brain Axis Analysis

Your gut produces 90% of the body's serotonin and communicates constantly with your brain via the vagus nerve. A compromised intestinal barrier ("leaky gut") allows toxins and bacterial fragments to enter the bloodstream, triggering systemic inflammation that directly affects cognitive function.

Key Markers We Analyze

  • Akkermansia muciniphila: This bacterium represents 1-4% of a healthy microbiome and is fundamental for maintaining intestinal barrier integrity. Low levels are associated with increased intestinal permeability and systemic inflammation.
  • Zonulin: A direct marker of intestinal permeability. Elevated levels indicate a compromised gut barrier.
  • Short-chain fatty acids: Butyrate, propionate, and acetate—produced by beneficial bacteria, they nourish intestinal cells and have anti-inflammatory effects on the brain.
  • Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio: An imbalance is associated with chronic inflammation and metabolic alterations that affect cognition.

If your analysis shows dysbiosis or altered permeability markers, we work on restoring intestinal balance as part of the cognitive optimization protocol. A healthy gut is a prerequisite for a well-functioning brain.

Is This Program For You?

You're 45+ and want to optimize cognitive performance before problems start

You've noticed changes in focus, memory, or mental stamina

Your work depends on mental clarity and you want to stay sharp

You're interested in a data-driven approach to brain health

You've had chronic stress, inflammatory conditions, or gut issues

How It Works

1

Consultation

We review your medical history, current concerns, lifestyle factors, and goals. No generic protocols—everything is based on your specific situation.

2

Testing

Comprehensive blood panel for inflammation, nutrients, and metabolic markers. Microbiome analysis to assess gut-brain connection. Additional tests as clinically indicated.

3

Your Plan

Clear, prioritized recommendations based on your results. What supplements actually make sense for you, which lifestyle changes will move the needle, and what to monitor going forward.

4

Follow-up

Retest key markers at 3-6 months to track improvement. Adjust recommendations based on results. Optimizing brain function is ongoing, not one-time.
